Village de Vétheuil

The origin of Vetheuil is lost in the mists of time. Vetheuil, which was written by Vétheuille, comes from the Latin word Vetolum, or according to other countries bordering the Seine, has undergone many invasions and looting.
From English possession to the kingdom of France :
Formerly, the fief of Vétheuil depended on the seigneury of Roche-Guyon. By the treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte, in 911, the Normans had obtained the edification to this duchy and the Ile de France and thus shared the Vexin in 2 distinct parts ...
Notary and public services :
The tabellionage of the village of Vétheuil dates back to the year 1574 and is therefore one of the oldest in the region. The postal service, meanwhile, was first made by Mantes, then Bonnières via La Roche Guyon. For its security, the municipality has not always depended on a rescue center more or less distant. In 1854, the municipality created a corps of 30 volunteer firefighters equipped with a pump and its accessories.
Municipal life in Vétheuil from 1789 to today :
Vétheuil hardly bore the name of commune that from the Revolution when the national assembly had voted the law of December 14, 1789 on the constitution of municipalities : the officers and members were replaced by election, the council was composed of 9 members for the communes of more than 500 inhabitants. With the decrees of February 1790, France is divided into 83 departments.
